Aqueduct for iPhone & iPod Touch (Review)

Aqueduct
As you may have known I highly enjoyed Kieffer Bros. match three game Orba. So it should be no surprise that I also highly enjoyed their latest game Aqueduct, yet another unique puzzler that is a very fine addition to the puzzle games genre. Like Orba. Aqueduct has a very high amount of polish for the type of artwork that is displayed.Everything seems to be hand drawn and yet it still seems to hold it's ground against other games available on the App Store, let's take a look and see what makes this game a very good cult classic puzzle game on the iPhone App Store today.

How to Play
According to wikipedia, an aqueduct is a duct or pipe that streams water from one end to the other and is controlled by a wheel. In the game Aqueduct, when you complete a puzzle a stream of water will flow through a pipe until it reaches the end and the whole duct is filled with water. To make the pipe connect, you must arrange the given puzzle pieces until you have a full pipe connected together. As you progress through the game, you will eventually find the puzzles to become quite challenging, which just makes this game a lot funner and more frustrating for some.

Gameplay
Adding to the difficulty and the already awesome level of fun, there are also elements included in the game. I have played through about seventy levels and I have found some very intriguing and confusing elements. The first one that I came upon was a conveyor belt that was very frustrating. Every time I got close to getting the puzzle intact, the belt would slide my pieces down the line, forcing me to start over and try a different routine, very frustrating if you were a beginner like me. Another element that was equally as frustrating was the transporter. While trying to get my object to another part in the environment, I would have to put my puzzle piece in the transporter to get it to the right point in the puzzle. This wouldn't be so bad if the puzzle piece would go where you wanted it to, but in most cases, it goes somewhere completely different.

Aqueduct comes packed with over 150 levels, and with the recent update, adds about 40 more levels. There are about 20-30 levels in each pack and each pack comes with a different theme or color. Kieffer Bros. has always been known for updating their apps, so I would not be surprised if they added more levels and packs in the future.

Final Thoughts
Aqueduct is one of the best and most fun puzzle games that I have ever played on my iPhone and will probably one of the best hand drawn games ever seen on an iDevice. Aqueduct currently sells at a price of 1.99 on the iPhone App Store respectively. If you have not downloaded this app yet and you are casual gamer looking for a simple yet addictive pick up and play game, you should really give Aqueduct a try. With over 200 levels and future updates, you will not regret downloading this app.
